Confessions of a Bangkok Shopaholic April 2006

I'm BACK!!!

Back on the blogosphere, and back from Bangkok.

Back from BANGKOK. From BangKOK.

BANGKOK?!!!?!!!

Ermmm....... YUP! I'm starting to feel a bit shy about this but can I also confess that I'll be there again in June? That's like 3 Bangkok trips in 6 months.

Gosh, wouldn't I be sick of that bloody place? You bet. But if only, if only I can help it. *exasparated*

Ever since the budget airlines pandemic broke out in Singapore, I've been cursed with the fatal Sawadikoo Spell and the only way to break out of it is for a handsome prince to take my hand and bring me (pay for the trip and all expenses) to a far away place. For example, England.

Or other parts of Europe. Maldives would be lovely. I wouldn't mind Japan, Egypt, USA, Hawaii and anywhere along those lines. Somedaaay my prince will come....

On a more realistic note, soomedaaay my Alec will strike lottery... toto... or big sweep. *beams*

Anyway, the recent trip was full sponsered, and that included the airfare, accomodation, food and cabfare, so I only paid for my shopping! Spent a miserable $350 in total because it was the Songkra Festival and many shops were closed. =( You bet I was ultra dismayed cos that will also mean I'll need to save even more for my next trip in June.

Songkra's definitely not the best time for shopping but if you're arty-farty kind, this is a good time to experience the rich thai culture and tradition. Simliar to the Chinese Lunar New Year, the Thais celebrate the eve of Songkra, and the first and second days, which are declared public hols. Everyone was armed with bottles, pails and water guns all ready and happy to soak you with water, and powder, as a form of blessing. We were reminded to place our mobile phones and watches in zip-lock bags to prevent them from drowning. Some really serious Thais were travelling on motor bikes and lorries, armed with water guns, with a sole mission to have a shot at everyone on the roads. What a sight!

My favourite Mango Sticky Rice @ MBK Foodcourt

Can someone tell me the name of this kueh? It's so chewy!! I love the texture! It's CUTE. The texture is cute. I'm serious.

The birdnest I've been craving for all my life! @ Nam Sing restaurant.

Only 3 pairs of shoes this time round

Ear rings and new ear ring stand

New ear rings and old ear ring stand

Lovely clothes mostly from CTC

My favourite favourite suit! It's a beautiful dark grey but turns out to be black on the pic. Not photogenic apparantly.

Right I've got to agree that the food looks a 100 times more yummy than my loot this time round. But that's because more than 50% of pratunam was closed, and there are actually more shirts, berms, and shorts that I bought, but I'm just too tired to take pictures of. =p

Anyway, there is a more depressing reason why I've been out of action for a long long time. I sank into a dark dark hole since I failed my first driving test. I retreated into my dark lonely corner, hugged my Qoo cushion day in day out, refused to speak and eat, and lost the sparkle in my eye....

And then I went to Bangkok. And rediscovered that there is so much more to life than atrociously difficult driving tests and circuits. More meaningful stuff. Like eating. And shopping. And eating. And shopping. And eating... and Shopping......
